Here's Where You Learn All About Our Gear -
and how and why we play what we play!!!!
What equipment does Upward Hill use?
Here you go:
-
Dave plays a Fender acoustic guitar, and a Gibson electric.
-
Bud plays a Hammond XB-5 organ through his ancient Leslie 147 speaker,
or thru a MotionSound K-BRM. Synth sounds are provided by a Korg
Trition and a 1972 Minimoog. Piano module by Kurzweil.
-
The pearl of Steve's creativity is a gleaming set of
Pearl
drums and hardware that he has had since the 9th grade. His
discontinued World Series line of drums still rocks as it did at the
peak of the Hair Band movement. Steve plays Zildjian A Custom cymbals.
-
Matt plays a Fender Jazzmaster.
Who writes the songs?
For the most part, Dave writes the tunes. He'll introduce a
nearly-complete song into a rehearsal, and the rest of the band adds its
magic via a long process of loving and fun sharing. Followed of course
by some midnight Frisbee, and some Green-Laser pranks and hijinks.
How long has the band been together?
Dave and Steve are on the staff of Covenant Chapel, an Evangelical
Presbyterian Church in Leawood, Kansas. Dave leads the High School
Monistry, and Steve handles the Jr. Hi's. Bud was an original member of
CovChap in 1989, and has played hundreds of worship services there. Matt
was one of Dave and Steve's kids!!
What about history and experience?
